Valentina Gomez Banned From UK After Islamophobic Controversy

Valentina Gomez, a Colombian native, is 26 years old and identifies herself as part of Tommy Robinson’s group as well as those of extreme right-wing activists in America and Britain. The young woman is an extremist who is also famous as a MAGA and anti-Muslim activist. Inflammatory videos against Muslims brought her into prominence as a controversial activist.

What Happened?

The UK government refused Gomez entry into their country only days after she declared her intention to come there. In a statement released by the Home Office, her ETA was cancelled as it would not contribute to public welfare.

Gomez had cleared herself using the country’s online visa system when politicians intervened at the last minute. She was set to speak at the “Unite the Kingdom” rally next month in London.

Her History with the UK

This decision did not come suddenly. Gomez happened to be in the UK in September 2025 during the Unite The Kingdom Rally organised by Tommy Robinson, the right-wing extremist. It was said that more than 100,000 people attended this rally, the largest of its kind ever held in the history of Britain.

At this rally, Gomez came out in front of thousands of people and delivered a speech telling the crowd to go against the “rapist Muslims” taking control of their country.

Political Pressure Behind the Ban

Sources claim that Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood was facing more pressure within the past 48 hours to bar Gomez from coming to the UK.

Other Muslim politicians have publicly requested her not to allow him entry as well. MP Ayoub Khan for Birmingham Perry Barr said that six million British Muslims are a vital part of British culture and asked the government to show morality by taking the appropriate action against this “malign provocateur.” MP Adnan Hussain, who is representing Blackburn, has also written to the Home Secretary asking her to reconsider her stance about Gomez entering the UK.

The “Double Standards” Debate

The incident has sparked a debate on the consistency in implementing the law on free speech and hate speech. After the Home Office approved Gomez’s visit initially, the Muslim Council of Britain stated that some people were denied entrance because of statements that incite violence against other religions and questioned what type of speech is considered offensive and who can speak.

The ban imposed on Gomez came after a similar action that occurred earlier in the month, where rapper Kanye West was barred from entering due to anti-semitic statements he made in the past. It has been noted that granting Gomez’s entrance while denying West’s is considered inconsistent.

Gomez’s Reaction

Gomez was defiant. She posted a video on X, vowing that she would still be going to the UK, and made further inflammatory remarks targeting the Home Secretary.

Why It Matters

This is part of the growing number of efforts by the UK government’s Home Office to ensure that people with extremist beliefs do not enter the country, fearing that they might foment hatred in any public rallies. This shows the dilemma faced by liberal democracies, where the promotion of free speech collides with the prevention of any rhetoric seen as incitement.
